Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana

Our Mission: At Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana we have a simple and clear mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships to ignite the power and promise of youth.

Our Vision: All youth achieve their full potential.

According to the Public/Private Ventures (P/PV) study, our one-to-one matches truly make an impact in children’s lives. A Big Brothers Big Sisters’ match is carefully administered and held to the strictest standards. Agencies strive for matches that are not only safe and well suited to each child’s needs, but also harmonious and built to last. The entire matching process, from the initial screening to the final pairing – and beyond – is made possible by our community’s financial support.

But don’t just think of us as simply matchmakers. We provide ongoing support and supervision to the Big, the Little, and the Little’s family. We offer training and guidance to help ensure that the matches have the best possible outcomes. By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community, we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:

  • Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
  • Avoidance of risky behaviors
  • Educational success

New Hope for Families

New Hope for Families

New Hope for Families ensures that no child sleeps outside in our community. Not tonight. Not ever. New Hope for Families provides emergency shelter and excellent early learning programs to keep families together and lift every child into a promising future.

New Hope Family Shelter
Through robust prevention and diversion work and thoughtful interventions in family shelter, we ensure that no family with children ever has to sleep outside, live in a car, or be separated from one another in order to have a safe place to sleep. New Hope is the only place in Monroe County where families with children can find shelter together. On average, more than 80% of families at New Hope Family Shelter move through homelessness into safe, stable housing, more than 2.5 times higher than the statewide average success rate of 31%.

New Hope Early Learning Center
New Hope provides excellent early childhood care and education programs that help parents get back to work and prepare children for early success in school and in life. Our licensed, Indiana Paths to QUALITY Level 3 early learning center serves up to 54 children ages birth to five years old in a beautiful child-centered facility. Our highly qualified teaching team provides individualized, relationship-based care and education grounded in evidence-based best practices. These investments in early childhood pay tremendous dividends for a lifetime.
